Tzatziki sauce recipe, Greece’s most popular side dish. Tzatziki is a side dish of Greek cuisine. The word “tzatziki” derives from the Turkish word “cacık”, that’s why in older times but sometimes even today some Greeks also call it “satziki”. Tzatziki is the most popular side dish in Greece and there’s a specific way to make it. It now a very common side dish worldwide, spread by expatriates who live abroad and also tourists that visit our country every year and love its light taste since tzatziki is also at its best during the summer when cucumbers are in season.
This recipe is our father’s, who used to prepare and serve tzatziki in his ouzeri and at home, where tzatziki was always present on our table along with feta cheese.
Let’s see the ingredients and hot to make it but also how it accompanies an everyday table, playing a dominant role among the side dishes.
You will need:
1kg of Greek yogurt (strained yogurt)
1 level tbsp garlic, well pulped
1 cup grated cucumber, well strained
2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp quality salt
